Eytryggr – The Shield of Valka
While apparently constructed of wood, this shield is constructed of wood from the World Ash, fallen from the tree due to the Nidhogg’s predations. Combined with the runes carved into it, bearing powerful enchantments, and with bracings made of enchanted uru, the shield is one of the most indestructible items in the realm.
Among the runes, odd among Asgardian magic items, is the inscription ‘Labor Omnia Vincit’ – the Oklahoma State motto, which also gives the shield its greatest enchantment. So long as she is true to her convictions, the shield protects just as well from mind and emotion affecting spells and psychic abilities as physical threats. She can share this protection just as readily as she could shield someone else from blows – and is just as aware of these types of threats even if they would normally be invisible.
True to its name, the ‘Always Faithful’ shield can be summoned to Valka’s hand with a mental command. Among other things, this lets her throw it as a weapon and have it return, so she never lacks for a ranged weapon, if she can afford to give up the shield’s defense briefly.
The Hat of Bills
It's a gift from her da. Mess with the hat and suffer the consequences. Turning the bill toward the back means that the kid gloves have come off and Valka's playing for keeps.
It's also a Sooners' hat. Don't even get her started on those Longhorns...
